In Christ
Where is your refuge? - Also, what is your refuge? Is it a place you go to unwind and relax? Some people may feel their refuge is a cabin at the lake, a favourite spot out in the bush, or even their home.
Your refuge is your safe place, your shelter, protection from danger or trouble. This may still be your cabin, a favourite spot, or your home.
My refuge is based on Psalm 91. The psalmist writes in verses 1 & 2: "Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.” NLT
When your refuge is the Most High God, it is then possible to live free from danger and torment in this crazy, mixed up world! Why? Because God's protection is a solid promise to anyone who "abides” in the Lord. To abide means to dwell, live, and remain. In other words – you are not just visiting the Lord once a week, you live in His presence day in and day out!
When we have a loving fellowship with the Lord throughout our day, that is the same as dwelling in His presence. We are communicating with Him, asking questions and getting the answers from Him. This is the most exciting way to live! And we can expect to live this way – it just takes diligence and practise. We diligently practise walking in love towards others and obeying what He is telling us to do!
I encourage you to read through Psalm 91 take the powerful promises from God and believe them. Remember that these promises belong to you when you live in the presence of the Lord! This can actually become your prayer of protection. Many soldiers on the front lines have done this and they have seen true miracles happen during battle.
Verses 5-7 – "Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you.” NLT
Verse 9-11 "If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go.” NLT
Verse 14- 16 "The Lord says, 'I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.'” NLT God is on our side and as believers -we win!
