In Christ
No Compromise! - Compromise may be a good thing when it comes to settling disagreements in relationships, but not when deciding to compromise on your principles or what God says in His Word.
I believe too many people regard the bible as simply a history book or a story book to read to their children. I have even been told by a church leader that the book of Jonah was just a story! She didn't believe it had ever really happened.
What do you believe? Is it just a story to you, or did it truly happen? I believe it happened just as it was recorded in the bible. I'm not sure how a man can survive such a thing, but I believe it just the same. I heard a pastor tell our congregation of a similar incident that he read in a medical journal. This pastor had been a very gifted heart surgeon and so had access to news on all the new medical discoveries. A man had been swallowed by a huge fish for more than two days. His skin was in very poor condition after being exposed to digestive juices, but he was alive!
Hard to believe? Well, we have a choice to make. We can choose not to believe or we can choose to believe it. Our mind may say it's impossible, but new discoveries are happening all the time! And we must believe first of all with our heart, just like a child does.
We can choose to never compromise on the Word of God. One meaning of the word compromise is to "Make a dishonourable or shameful concession.” I certainly believe it is dishonourable to the Lord to say what is promised to us in the bible is not true! This is exactly what we are doing when we say things like, "God doesn't heal anymore. He works through doctors now.” Well, yes God can certainly work through doctors, but that does not mean He has stopped working miracles! Or "This problem is just too big for God to help with.”
What does His Word say? He has promised us in multiple scriptures, many of them in the New Testament that He heals us. It also says in the New Testament that nothing is impossible with God. What do you choose to believe?
Psalm 119 has much to say about the truthfulness of God's Word. Verse 89 states, "Your eternal word, O Lord, stands firm in heaven.” Verse 160 says, "The very essence of your words is truth.” (NLT)
