In Christ
It's Not Too Late!- Monday is our last chance to vote in the federal election. Too often I hear people say they are not interested in politics or casting their vote. Or worse yet, "Christians should not get involved in politics”. This is absolutely not true, as Christians we have a huge part to play in the political process. The bible tells us to pray for our leaders -that is involved, if you ask me.
When a certain group of society does not exercise their right to vote, then the governing leadership becomes unbalanced in representing the values of the people.
Proverbs 29:2 states: "When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice. But when the wicked are in power, they groan.” NLT How are the "godly” going to be put in authority during any election if the "godly” don't vote?
This country was founded on Christian principles. Many people from other countries have moved here and are continuing to this day because it is a country of freedom. Many have moved from their country of birth because they wanted to live free from the tyranny of that government. We have the freedom to speak our opinion without getting executed for it! Think about it. People in many other countries would give their life for the freedoms we have here in Canada! Many Canadian gave their lives for us to have the rights we all enjoy.
So why are so many people who have been Canadian citizens all their life so complacent? I believe part of the reason is because they don't know the importance of voting and praying for those in authority. "I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people (this includes our government). Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.” 1Timothy 2:1,2 NLT
Please get informed! Pray very seriously about who to vote for – it is so important! And then, most important of all – vote! It's not too late!
Every vote counts and your vote may make the difference of who represents us in parliament. If the same people vote the same way every election we will get the same results. This year I pray everyone who is eligible to vote actually goes and votes. Take the time to send the person who best represents Yukon based on your vote.
