In Christ

God is on my side! How does God choose sides? If you have made a decision to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior -then God is on your side as well. It is not about the church you attend or the religion you follow. It is definitely not because you are a good person and you know about God. It is because you made a decision to believe His word.

It is a heart issue!

Romans 10:7-11(NLT) ⁷And don't say, ‘Who will go down to the place of the dead' (to bring Christ back to life again).” ⁸In fact, it says, "The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart.” And that message is the very message about faith that we preach: ⁹If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. ¹⁰For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. ¹¹As the Scriptures tell us, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.”

It is not about being perfect.

"Being saved” is more than just being saved from the daily battles we face on earth. More importantly it is referring to where we (true Christians) will live for eternity, after death. It is a heart issue and God is in the forgiving business. 1 John 1:5-10(NLT) ⁵This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. ⁶So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practising the truth. ⁷But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. ⁸If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. ⁹But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. ¹⁰If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts.

How do I know God is on our side?

Romans 8:31-37(NLT) ^31b If God is for us, who can ever be against us? ³²Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won't he also give us everything else? ³³Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. ³⁴Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honour at God's right hand, pleading for us. ³⁵Can anything ever separate us from Christ's love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? ³⁶(As the Scriptures say, "For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) ³⁷No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

"Overwhelming victory” I like that. Like I said last week, "we win!” So it does not matter what you are going through today or will face tomorrow you can be sure God is on your side when you are, In Christ.
