Easter? What does this weekend mean to you? Is it just another holiday? Is it Easter, which results in lots of chocolate? Maybe you call this weekend Resurrection Sunday. Resurrection? What does that mean? If you just asked yourself that question then I encourage you to read on.

This weekend is the most celebrated date in church history. It can have deep meaning to you as an individual or it can just mean more time off work, with pay. If you are the latter I challenge you to think about what Easter means to you. Why is it a holiday? What is the significance of this date? You may say, "I don't believe in all that religious stuff.” That's OK, you are not alone, here is an example of someone who knew Jesus personally and still did not believe without some evidence.

John 20:24-28 24 One of the disciples, Thomas (nicknamed the Twin), was not with the others when Jesus came. 25 They told him, "We have seen the Lord!” But he replied, "I won't believe it unless I see the nail wounds in his hands, put my fingers into them, and place my hand into the wound in his side.”

26 Eight days later the disciples were together again, and this time Thomas was with them. The doors were locked; but suddenly, as before, Jesus was standing among them. He said, "Peace be with you.” 27 Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and see my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don't be faithless any longer. Believe!” 28 "My Lord and my God!” Thomas exclaimed.

No one can force you to believe. No one can force you to go to church. Some people go to church and God still isn't impressed with them. So how do you win with God? The key is right here - "Don't be faithless any longer. Believe!”

God is looking for people to believe Him!

Hebrews 11:6 6 So, you see, it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that there is a God and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. NLT Bible

Jesus died for you whether you believe it or not. That is what this weekend is all about no matter what you call it. Believing is a choice only you can make. I warn you, when you do decide to believe get ready for the rewards. What are those rewards? Healing and health in our bodies. Finances in time of need. Freedom from what holds us down in life. When it is all over and we die... destination heaven. Now that is what Easter means to me!
