In Christ

Unable to Communicate Often there is a message on our computer that says, "Unable to communicate with the battery backup for your computer” When this happens there is obviously something wrong with the connection. If the power were to go off, then there wouldn't be any backup power available to keep the computer running. In the case of our computer it will eventually stop working if the connection is not repaired.

This is much the same thing that happens with a Christians' connection with God at times! We may not know why there is a communication problem, but we're just not hearing from the Lord. The power or energy we need to do things isn't available anymore. Well, there may be different reasons as to why this happens, but many times it's as simple as the Lord has asked us to do something, or not do something, and we just don't take Him seriously. We go on about our life and ignore Him. As a result the connection is severed. Much like a loving parent knows that they must give their children choices in life, God gives us the choice to listen or ignore what He says. He still loves us, but He has given us the free will to choose and to live with the consequences.

Are you connected?

When we actually choose to listen and learn from Him then our connection with Him is back! The power or energy to do what He has asked is available again. Jesus spoke of this connection.

John 15:1-7 NLT

1 "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. 3 You have already been pruned for greater fruitfulness by the message I have given you. 4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful apart from me.

5 "Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. 6 Anyone who parts from me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. 7 But if you stay joined to me and my words remain in you, you may ask any request you like, and it will be granted!

Unlike our computer that has no choice in the matter, we can choose to stay connected, or to remain in Him. All it takes is a simple decision to invest as much time with Him as possible throughout the day and to read and study what He has already told us to do in His Word. Let's keep that connection!
